Al Ayre Espanol: Scarlatti & de Nebra

Baroque in Singapore brings you yet another high quality baroque concert, performed by one of Europe's most acclaimed baroque groups; Al Ayre Espanol from Spain! Audiences will find their performances filled with Spanish temperament and energy, giving new breath to music from the past, making them appear as recent compositions.

This concert will feature two composers that both worked in Spain during the early 18th century. During this time, the Italian style conquered the European Courts and Domenico Scarlatti arrived from Italy as a harpsichord teacher in the entourage of Barbara of Portugal on the occasion of her wedding to the soon to be king Ferdinand VI. There, he met Jose de Nebra, who was probably the most prestigious Spanish composer of his time.

With these
works from both Scarlatti and Nebra one can experience first hand beautiful Spanish music with clear Italian influences, performed by the absolute leaders when it comes to Spanish baroque music. Al Ayre Espanol is on the top of their game for many years and never fails to amaze audiences with their energetic and highly skilled performances. They won the prestigious 2004 National Music Awards in Spain in recognition of their work. On this tour, Al Ayre Espagnol will be accompanied by the beautiful and highly acclaimed soprano Maria Espada.
